Depletion of fossil resources, especially petroleum today is making people have to think to use renewable energy alternatives, such as solar, wind, bio-mass, geothermal, and so forth. One that is now so much choice is solar power.
Since the past few decades, solar energy has been used in various countries. If properly exploited, solar energy is predicted to provide the necessities of the world’s energy consumption. Solar energy has its advantages, which can be used free of charge from the wild, and free CO2 that is environmentally friendly. With a tropical climate conditions year-round sunshine, Indonesia also has the potential to generate significant solar energy.
Solar cell or photovoltaic cell (solar cell) is a semiconductor device that converts sunlight into electrical energy. The conversion is called the photovoltaic effect.
Solar power is competitive with conventional methods because it has aged long enough in its use, there is no fuel needed, lower operational costs and quick in installation. If you assume the cost of solar power will be quite low after depreciation. Explained by Hiroshi Morimoto, General Manager Group of Solar System Development Group Sharp Corporation Japan, ”The use of photovoltaic modules at large can prevent climate change caused by global warming,” said Hiroshi.
How it Works
How a solar power system, said Hiroshi, using a grid-connected photovoltaic solar cell panels. Photovoltaic solar cell modules convert solar energy into DC electrical current. DC electrical current generated will be channeled through an inverter (power regulator) that turns it into AC electricity, which will also automatically set the whole system.
AC power will be distributed through the indoor distribution panel that will conduct electricity as needed electronic equipment (television, radio, air conditioning, etc.). Large and the cost of electricity consumption used to be measured by Watt-Hour Meters.
Excess Solar Cells
According to Hiroshi, the use of photo voltaic has several advantages when compared with other power plants, namely:
• clean and pollution free
• operate without any parts that need to be assembled
• generate electricity with no noise
• it requires almost no maintenance
• the electricity generated can be used for any purpose, anywhere, no need for major investment or security checks such as the nuclear industry
• does not require transportation costs such as oil, coal, uranium and plutonium
• durable and long lasting (can reach 25 years old).
