GJWC Departments

Arts (Jill Wagstaff, Chair)
Use your creative talents to reach out to "Children at Risk"; support Very Special Arts (VSA), which creates opportunities in music, dance, drama and the visual arts for individuals with disabilities to participate in mainstream society; encourage your artistic expression, creative writing skills or your love for the performing arts by participating in Arts and Craft contests on state and national levels.

Conservation (Sara Ben-Shoshan , Chair)
Learn the importance for conserving the earth's natural resources, beautifying your community by keeping it litter free and learn how you can help support and sustain endangered ecosystems and wildlife. Organizations supported include Save the Manatee, Keep America Beautiful, National Arbor Day Foundation, and the Humane Society of the United States.
Education (Beth Nahlik , Chair)
The Education Department are designed to increase awareness of important issues, including low literacy and the devastation it causes, the need for mentoring, the plight of those with learning disabilities, the value of supporting local libraries, and the importance of leadership. Youth leadership organizations include Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Foundation (HOBY).
Home Life (Beth Waltrip , Chair)
Home Life puts an emphasis on issues that impact the family such as family economics, substance abuse and health issues. Support organizations such as Go Red for Women, Habitat for Humanity, Reach Out to Cancer Kids Camp (ROCK), Boggy Creek, Canine Companions for Independence, March of Dimes and Special Olympics Florida.
International Affairs (Laura Waltrip, Chair)
Promote the understanding and cooperation among various international cultures, student exchange programs, increase awareness of important issues, including the relevance of the United Nations and its various entities like UNICEF. Learn the significance of international exchange and development support and the needs of groups like CARE and Operation Smile.
Public Affairs (Beth Waltrip, Chair)
The Public Affairs Department is designed to increase awareness of important issues, including crime prevention, safety throughout the home, victims' rights and safety, assisting veterans and the importance of good citizenship. Work with groups such as Hacienda Girls Ranch, the Justice Coalition, your local police and fire departments, support local rape crisis centers and Veteran's Affairs.
